Used almost exclusively in the management of complex humeral fractures involving a variant on the ‘Y’ or ‘T’ fracture. The olive, positioned at the end of the threaded portion of the pin, acts as the screw head. Bone fragments may be compressed and incorporated into the external fixator frame. The bone fragment involved is usually the lateral condyle.
