Carpal injuries can be so severe that reconstruction is impossible and salvage is indicated. When the distal radius is involved, a simple pancarpal arthrodesis may not be enough. The forelimb salvage plate is designed for such injuries. The length and screw positions allow some reconstruction of the distal radius together with arthrodesis of the carpus.
